Empower the digital media and marketing industry to thrive in today’s economy.
In its quest to empower the digital media and marketing industry to thrive in today’s economy, the IAB SA is committed to professional development and the elevation of knowledge, skills and expertise across the industry. To this end, we offer digital training courses that are relevant and in keeping with the ever-changing educational needs within the industry.
The IAB SA makes accessible its global courses which are designed to help industry professionals understand the digital advertising ecosystem. These courses provide engaging video-based professional training suitable for all levels, whether onboarding new employees, creating a common language across your teams, or expanding your digital marketing capabilities.
We are also pleased and privileged to amplify some of the local training courses and digital skills assessment programmes offered by our Educational Body members at discounted rates to fellow IAB members.

Our Work
The IAB SA seeks to provide smart, actionable and motivating insights to help our members make better digital decisions, and therefore better business decisions. Our connected culture and access to experts and expertise enables us to drive our projects forward and deliver on them.
We inform and educate our members and the digital community at large through our various Insight Events – and, more recently, the Insights in Action events initiated in partnership with Kantar SA – and reports on Internet Advertising Revenue, Digital Landscape Survey and data measurement, as well as our various industry white papers. The current COVID pandemic is top of everyone’s mind at the moment and much of our efforts and our members’ efforts are currently focused on providing assistance, relevant information and guidance in helping businesses navigate the COVID road to not only survive but put in place measures that are conducive to continued success and growth.
We provide a valuable platform for members to interact at our events and in our Councils. It is also at these events that the work and services of our members are amplified through speaker and sponsorship opportunities. Our Transformation Council spearheads our efforts in transforming the digital advertising and publishing industry, one of their projects being the Front Row initiative which creates opportunities for young budding, creative black students, entrepreneurs and agency interns between the ages of 18 – 28 to access relevant industry-leading events and knowledge sharing by some of our brilliant digital media and marketing minds. We are currently establishing our Youth Action Council which will work with the IAB Transformation Council to bring new insights into increasing the engagement and participation of under 30’s in our industry, It will also collaborate with existing councils in solving related challenges in this area.
The IAB SA owns the Bookmark Awards which rewards and celebrates excellence in the digital advertising and publishing industry. We also analyse the results of the awards programme to create realistic industry benchmarks for judging. In addition to this, we work in partnership with the Loeries Awards Company and Creative Council, to assist the Loeries producers in selecting the jury panel for their Integrated Campaign category and to encourage and promote creative digital excellence that is relevant and meaningful in South Africa.
We keep our finger on the pulse of industry changes and legislation, and are able to make suitable representation on behalf of the industry where necessary through our many Councils. Of particular importance, was the active involvement of our Regulatory Affairs Council in the submission of appropriate industry responses during the drafting of the new POPI Act. As such we are perfectly placed to provide valuable POPI guidelines on how to adjust business practices to accord with the new rulings.
Our close ties with our industry affiliations enable us to work together on vital projects such as Universal Access to the Internet and Free Public Access in SA. They are an additional support to us in providing and disseminating relevant and helpful information.
We also arrange discounted course fees with some of our members in the educational arena on specific digital marketing courses.
