Head of IAB SA Digital Audio Committee
Julian Jordaan is the Managing Director of 365 Digital, South Africa’s premier independent online publisher marketplace with a 20-year track record for servicing a diverse set of publishers across Africa in the areas of ad technology and monetisation consultation and implementation.
His desire to see publishers thrive in the challenging sell-side ecosystem has driven him to transform the direction of 365 Digital over the past few years and ensure its positive influence on the media businesses of many local and international publishers.
His work at 365 Digital has led him to consult to some of the continent’s largest publishing groups, placing emphasis on overcoming technological and resource challenges, monetisation strategy and yield management, ad tech and audience solutions.
Julian has been instrumental in launching South Africa’s first programmatic audio marketplace, a2x® and deeply involved in promoting the benefits and efficacy of the digital audio channel to publishers and advertisers throughout South Africa.
Chantelle Herbst >

Chantelle Herbst is the Head of Twitter In-Stream Sponsorships at Ad Dynamo. Her current role is to empower brands to connect with conversations to take full advantage of sponsorships, TV and the second screen by harnessing the unique discovery power of Twitter.
Chantelle got her start at The National School of the Arts where she found her passion in the art of storytelling. Marketing was a natural next step for her, and since she has worked with the likes of Media 24, Moneyweb, Perform Digital Media, Spotify and Twitter.
Chantelle's love for music and radio has its roots in many past Sunday's she spent with her dad playing cassettes. And, in 2016, an opportunity arose to work with Deezer in their ad sales offering, later in 2018 Chantelle was part of the team that launched Ad sales in South Africa for Spotify, she eagerly jumped at both opportunities, hoping to impact these new offerings in the South African market as she did when moving from print to digital. Chantelle takes client strategies to the next level, leveraging learnings from radio and digital audio - making her unique experience a great fit for the IAB South African Audio Community.
At her core, Chantelle has a deep love of all things digital and continues to break boundaries by creating new ways for brands to tell their stories digitally with their ever-changing customer base.
Mark Botha >

Passionate about marketing, Mark is fortunate to have become involved in digital at an early stage and to have operated in environments where he has had the opportunity to work across multiple platforms including Print and Digital with the Media24 group, and TV and Digital together with the Multichoice group. This growing experience in multi-platform media continues to build at Mediamark where he is working with some of the biggest radio stations in South Africa, carving out their digital offering which extends from Display and Video to Digital Audio (Live Streaming and Podcast), the future of radio.
Having been in the industry for 22 years, he has also built and managed award winning teams and has been lucky enough to work with some of the best people in the industry. He is excited about the future of digital and continuing to work in this ever-evolving medium.

Alex Krause is a Senior Strategist at The King James Group based in Cape Town, having previously been Senior Strategist at HelloFCB+ for 2½ years.
Alex has 8 years of experience in the marketing industry. His focus is currently around developing brand, campaign, data management, CRM and content strategies for a number of local and global brands, specialising in everything from financial services to FMCG. Outside of the office he spends his time between the ocean and playing music – depending on what kind of weather Cape Town decides to dish out on the day.
Chris Borain >
Member of IAB SA Digital Audio Committee
After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Chris' career has been spent working across all media types - including radio, TV, print and a newswire agency startup - but always with an emphasis on the informational opportunities afforded by digital media.
He twice served on the Management Committee of the Online Publishers Association (OPA - the precursor to the DMMA and IAB), and on his return to South Africa re-joined the now-called IAB SA Publishing Council before standing as Chairman of the IAB Board of Directors, where he served for 3 years. Chris remains on the IAB SA Board as an Executive Member.
Chris has worked for and across most of the media groups in SA and is currently the Head of Digital for United Stations.
Francois Retief >
Member of IAB SA Digital Audio Committee
Francois Retief obtained a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch. After a decade being the chief systems engineer and project manager in the development of various well-known fleet management and vehicle tracking systems, he became COO (and one of the 3 founding members) of iono.fm, South-Africa’s large-scale audio platform that provides amongst others podcasting, live streaming and digital audio advertising services to customers both locally and internationally.
iono.fm has distinguished itself as the platform of choice for over a thousand podcasters and radio stations from over 20 countries posting content in 27 different languages and building a reputation as a dedicated and approachable organisation providing cutting edge, reliable and value-for-money solutions.
As a key technical and operational interface for the company, Francois frequently presents at conferences, provides training and advice on digital audio to various local and international broadcasters, organisations and ad agencies, and also serves on the IAB SA’s Digital Audio Committee.
Nick Hamman >
Member of IAB SA Digital Audio Committee
Nick Hamman is a multi-faceted content creator. Nick Holds a degree in Politics and Philosophy from the University of Stellenbosch. His professional career in radio began in 2012 after he beat out hopefuls across the Western Cape to win the Good Hope FM Presenter Search. His efforts at Good Hope FM saw him nominated for Best Weekend Breakfast Show in South Africa. Nick currently hosts 5Drive, The Afternoon Drive show on South Africa’s Leading youth station 5FM. Nick has also consulted for the station’s music department and hosted the station’s first ever talk platform, which saw him nominated for best news and Actuality show in South Africa.
Nick is passionate about creating travel content. In 2016 he famously walked 330km from Joburg to Polokwane and documented his experience on radio. He has also successfully completed 4 National Heritage Tours where he spends the month of September documenting the people, places and hidden gems that make South Africa great.
Nick Hamman also writes and Narrates The Insider SA, a prime-time nationally broadcast television program that documents exceptional South African stories. The show has a special interest in promoting sustainable living and showcasing how individuals have overcome adversity.
In 2019 Nick, along with TBWA’s creative director Johann Schwella, built a Podcast for the IAB - Benchmarking Digital Excellence: Work that Wins. The podcast aligned with one of the IAB SA’s strategic pillars to set the benchmark for digital excellence across performance in several categories, technical areas and deployment of digital media.
