Message from Josephine Buys, CEO of IAB SA
The Bookmark Awards, now in its 8th year, has adapted the awards structure in recognition that digital is evolving at lightning speed and in line with international trends, moving from conveying a message to creating an experience.
With only 10 days to go until the deadline for submissions to the IAB Bookmark Awards, digital marketers have one last chance to get their entries in and face off against the best in the industry.
The IAB SA announced on Thursday November 12 that the deadline for submissions to the prestigious Bookmark Awards would be extended from 15 November 2015 to 30 November 2015, providing entrants with a further opportunity to present their work at the country’s premier digital marketing showcase.
On November 4, the IAB SA made written submissions to the department of trade and industry on the draft Marketing, Advertising and Communications (MAC) B-BBEE Sector Charter that was gazetted 60 days prior.

One of the trends that could change the face of the Internet is the increasing use of ad blocking software. Whilst this technology is not new, the web seems to have reached a tipping point where frustrated users are jumping the technical hurdles in larger numbers to filter out online ads.
As the digital landscape is always evolving, it’s important that measurement matches this environment. The IAB SA and Effective Measure have decided to update the Digital Industry Survey, to ensure it is consistent with the current South African digital environment.
Nicolle Harding, the South African country manager at Effective Measure, is a seasoned media professional having spent the past 10 years building key relationships across the globe. Her passion for anything digital has cemented her keen interest in keeping abreast of global trends, with a particular focus on mobile.
This year has seen the IAB SA take great strides and have a positive impact on the digital industry in South Africa. The organisation launched several new initiatives and projects, while working towards finding viable solutions for the challenges facing the digital industry.
