Duarte sheds light on dark social media at Heavy Chef

Lifting the veil off the digital phenomenon known as dark social media, Dave Duarte headlined the Heavy Chef event in Cape Town at World Wide Creative’s brand new event space on August 28, and his official presentation has now been released.

Dave’s talk challenged marketers to consider the impact that social sharing on “dark” platforms such as Skype, WeChat and Mxit has on web analytics and site referrals. These immeasurable referrals often go unnoticed but their effect can no longer be ignored. This session demonstrated how instant messaging apps, email and text are changing the way that digital marketers think of social sharing and how it should be measured.
